DR. UMEAKUEWULU RECEIVES ACHIEVING HEALTH NIGERIA INITIATIVE, SEEKS PROFESSIONALISM IN HIV CARE The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, on Wednesday, 25th March 2026, received Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) that resides in the Teaching Hospital catering for over three thousand patients living with HIV, during a courtesy visit to familiarise with her leadership. The team, which is in partnership with Medical Assisted Treatment to provide medical aid to individuals living with HIV, was led by Dr. Uche Ugwuoke and Elizabeth Anyanwu. During the interaction, the delegation expressed their strong commitment to the care and support of HIV patients, reiterating their resolve to continue providing treatment, counseling, and other essential services that improve the quality of life of beneficiaries. Dr. Umeakuewulu welcomed the team and assured them of her full support towards strengthening collaboration and positioning the Teaching Hospital as a centre of excellence in HIV care and management. She called for sustained commitment, professionalism, and teamwork in service delivery, noting that COOUTH remains dedicated to providing comprehensive, stigma-free, and patient-focused care. She further emphasized that through effective partnerships and adherence to best practices, the hospital will continue to enhance outcomes for individuals living with HIV while maintaining high standards in healthcare services.
