UMEAKUEWULU HOLDS STRATEGIC SESSION WITH CONSULTANTS, PUSHES FOR CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, on Monday, 30th March 2026, held a strategic meeting with consultants of the Teaching Hospital aimed at charting a course for the rapid transformation of the institution into a centre of excellence. The meeting provided a platform for robust brainstorming on key areas requiring strengthening to ensure that critical medical cases are effectively managed within the hospital rather than referred elsewhere. The consultants deliberated on improving specialized services, upgrading operational efficiency, and enhancing collaboration across departments to boost patient outcomes and institutional capacity. Dr. Umeakuewulu reiterated her unwavering commitment to the tripod stand of her administration, clinical services, research, and training, emphasizing that strengthening these pillars remains central to her vision for the hospital. She assured the consultants of deliberate efforts to recruit more experts in critical areas to expand specialized care and improve service delivery. According to her, the goal is to build a highly responsive healthcare system where complex cases are confidently received and handled.
